Virender Sehwag : I need a rest

April 14th, 2006

Viru has admitted that he needs a good rest to be back into his best form as soon as possible. Virender Sehwag failed again in the sixth ODI versus the poms. In the five matches he played he has scores of 7, 26, 15, 26 and 4. The last score is when he captained the side in the absence of the India’s regular Rahul Dravid.

He clearly stated that Dravid will be the captain for the next match and the decision to rest him would be made by the Indian Captain.

Gunning to win : Sehwag

Sehwag has been named the captain for one match following the resting of Rahul Dravid. Sehwag stated at the press conference that there was no complacency and that the team was very keen to notch up another win.

He said that the young players will get more opportunities in the remaining matches of the series. It looks certain now that Robin Uthappa will start and so will Mohd. Kaif be given another chance to prove himself.

Virender Sehwag’s form something to worry about

April 1st, 2006

Not too long ago there seemed to be a feeling that the bowlers of the opposition team would fear taking the field at the thought of bowling to Virender Sehwag.

Things have changed in the recent times, Viru doesn’t seem to be at his best and keeps getting out in the same fashion. The short pitch ball into his rib-cage or the ball outside off-stump, both are his big weakness. I’m sure he knows that he is not in-form and definitely needs to come back to his best if India are going to reach anywhere near the World Cup finals.

In his last 25 knocks in the shorter version of the game, Sehwag has scored 759 runs, with a miserly average of 32.25, no hundred and three fifties.
